Hey everybody,

I have recently acquired a make noise modular shared system, an MFB Tanzbaer analogue drumcomputer and the PUSH for live.
Now I also got the Doepfer MCV4 midi to CV Standalone box that is apparently supposed to sort of mold all of this together for syncing it up properly.

Can anyone help me to get ableton live to be the master clock let's say 130 bpm and control both the modular synthesizer and the drum computer?
I specifically bought the Doepfer MCV4 midi to cv modular box to sync it up through both midi and cv. Midi from soundcard (RME fireface 802) towards the little Doepfer box and from there with midi thru to the Drum computer,
then on the other side per CV into the modular.

If anyone could help me into achieving perfect sync between PUSH with ableton, the modular and the drum computer I'd be very thankful. I really want this to perfectly work out so that I could practice all three components into an extensive live set performance.
So having them all smoothly synced up would be of great advantage.

Just for the heads up I am producing techno music so the modular is really crucial to the setup and same goes for the drum computer.

Any help is extremely appreciated.

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same exact problem! I haven't been about to figure this out. I use the MCV4 with my SH 101, but I can't get it to run my modular - email me please ! ( [email protected])

From what I can see the Make Noise Modular does not have a Midi to CV module (can't see one)

The MCV4 will control modules from a midi keyboard or hardware sequencer but will not transmit midi clock (I do not own one so are not 100% sure).

I use a KENTON PRO SOLO MkII. AUX 1 has a [CL} output.

Kenton also do a Eurorack version which also would work and you possibly would not need a midi module such as below. It's just I have a pro solo for other CV gear.
CV & Gate signals can be transmitted via the internal system buss and do not need manual patching (you would need to check your case spec to see if this is the case (no pun intended))

If not the above module a midi module that allows you an external clock source.

I have connected my Pittsburgh Modular, Live 9 and the Kenton as follows:

1. Direct midi out from Ableton Live to midi out on your soundcard
2. Midi from your soundcard into the Pro Solo - select Clock (CL) from menu 20 in the Pro Solo
3. You will also need to alter the clock divide ratio in menu 41 (12 = quavers)
4. Set your midi module on your modular to accept external clock data
5. Connect a patch lead from AUX 1 (Pro Solo) to the clock input on your modular midi module
6. Connect a patch lead from Gate (Pro Solo) to the in of an envelope module (this opens and closes the envelope)
7. Connect a patch lead from CV (Pro Solo) to the CV 1v/o in of a oscillator or waveforms module
