Ableton LA Courses **Pointblank vs Dubspot**

I am deciding between two courses: POINT BLANK'S Music Production & Sound Design Cert
http://la.pointblanklondon.com/music-pr ... ficate.php- or - DUBSPOT's Ableton Live Producer Certificate Program.
http://www.dubspot.com/programs/ableton ... e-program/
I'd appreciate any help. For me the certification isn't the focus, I'm looking to improve my ability to compose music in Ableton Live. Would love to hear from anyone who has anything to say about either of these programs.
Thanks!

For the last year I have been recording in Ableton and reading/watching everything I can get my hands on, but I that I've hit a threshold and could benefit from a class. Do you really that they're BOTH a waste of $$?

I will give you one on one instruction for 50% the cost of one of those classes. Deal?

There is nothing to learn from this courses that you can't learn in other resources online. Probably it's best value is making connections...
What is exactly stoping you? Learning the software? reading the manual and trying to do thing is the best way.
Having a hard time writing music? Well in this case you may want some music lessons, wich IMHO are much more worth that an Ableton Live course.
Also there are other cheap options of online courses: groove3, macprovideo, and there is one with excellent music courses and totally free: Coursera.org

Thanks you for this. I agree music lessons are very beneficial and that may be the direction I ultimately go in.
I'm a trained violinist with an ultimate goal of composing - making my own musical compositions as well as score for commercials, films. I think I could improve my piano skills.. Any tips on good resources, classes for composing in Los Angeles? Or are private lessons the way to go?
All help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Dubspot's free tutorials did seem nice, but their price was very high even for the online option (although I would imagine, they would cover Live pretty deeply for their price). The Logic course was much more cheaper.
That said you can learn alot going on free YouTube tutorials and buying cheaper video/book series for maybe $10-$100. If the cheaper options don't get you anywhere, then I'd look further.
One of Ableton's strong points is that it has a decent sized and active user base who makes free tutorials online. Alot of these are pretty nice.

IMHO yes, the right direction are private piano lessons, the key is to find the right teacher for you. Someone who is a composer would be very important for you.
Maybe go to pianoworld.com and ask around about teachers in LA wich are also composers, try more than one also, finding a good teacher for private lessons may take time.

No, the Bay.
Tell you what, let me crash at your place and eat your food and it's only 45%.
Seriously, though, for some grands I'd spend a few weeks there maybe crash with friends.
