Yamaha STY-Import

Please allow Yamaha .sty Files import in Live!!! Sty-Files are files that contain MIDI data and more. If you simply rename them to the ending ".mid" they can be imported in Live, unofortuntely only as a single clip so far. Therefore please also make it possible that Live imports multitrack MIDI (.mid) and Style (.sty) files in as many clips as tracks there are.

The .sty files also contain markers for different style parts. It was extremely helpful if Live automatically consolidated new scenes according to these markers and add the single clips to those scenes (as this would happen if you consolidated the tracks to new scenes in the Arrangement view on your own). Afterwards the Max for Live Device J74 HarmoTools (http://fabriziopoce.com/HarmoTools.html) can be applied to any track so that everyone can actually play the styles as on a real Yamaha keyboard!!! (By the way: How is it possible to add this Max for Live device or other Devices all at once to several tracks?? Is that possible or do I need to add the device to each track seperately with the mouse??)

It was soo awesome if it was possible to load Yamaha Style files in Live and play them like on real keyboards. There are 1000s of free Styles available on http://www.psrtutorial.com/sty/yamaha/. Please add the Style file import function to Live and maybe even the consolidation idea as described before. Here's a picture of how Samplitude imports these style files:

You'd need the Yamaha arpeggiators that use the style files...Live is never going to support that!

It's not true... Yamaha Style-files contain MIDI Data and more! Simply rename the .sty endling to .mid and you will figure out that even Live is able to import them!!

Unfortunately Live - so far - can only import MIDI Data in format 0 and therefore makes the import of renamed style files as unusuable as importing regular MIDI files. Fixing that would mean you actually could import MIDI and Style files and with my idea to automatically "split" them in the different cells of the Session View you would be able to launch hundreds of Style clips.

You could easily fix the problem of the missing "arpeggiator device" by using the J74 HarmoTools as they do exactly what you say what wouldn't work ;) ;) So Ableton only would have to allow the import of Style and MIDI files with the format 1 and maybe add the funtion to automatically consolidate time to new scenes according to the clip markers that are already provided with the Styles. Finally you only need to add the J74 HarmoTools to each track and there you go! You can play all the Styles live ;)

See a screenshot of how style files get imported in Magix Samplitude - the markers above represent a style part that could easily be consolidated as a new scene and then be launched:

Hello,

I would personally pay hundreds of dollars to have this capability. I'm new to Ableton and have version 10.x but have not tried to make these imports, but it is exactly what I want to do. And then construction songs in Ableton to go back into an arranger keyboard and have them lineup to the parts like Intro, Verse, Break, Ending. Should get into this in the next month. Where do I send my check :-)
