Ableton Forum

Hi,

i asked the user "ohigetbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends" to shorten his username as it destroys the layout of the forum in every thread he posts for most users (i'm using the latest version of Firefox) and several people have already complained.

Example:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=208014&start=105

but it's the same in any other thread he participates in.

Unfortunately he refuses to shorten his name, quote:

use safari bitch

so it'd be nice if you could either make him shorten his name or remove him from the forum.

The mods don't read them and don't care.

We do read the posts, not to worry.

Sorry to hear that there are issues in regards to the username and how this is affecting the layout of the page.
On the other hand we try to leave as much freedom to users as long as they are not being offensive, abusive and are generally adhering to the Community Guidelines.

However of course do feel free to raise any issues that you might run into, and we will try to clarify and help where possible.

What if you just made it so the layout of the site stays the same regardless of username length and instead usernames that are too long get hyphenated and put on two lines...?

Making their username ohigetbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends may not be against the rules...

...but it makes them a huge dick and I loathe every post they make before even reading it.

Name is too long, & mods should address this problem.

Like, you do understand there's an issue with the layout caused by the length of a username but you won't actually do anything about it because the freedom of choosing whatever username you like is more important ?!

As in, you don't care ?

What about the simple solution to a) limit the length a username can have and b) get this guy to shorten his name ?

Really, i expected an answer like "thanks, we're looking into it and see what we can do about it" and not this kind of corporate "we're so sorry (but won't actually do anything)" reply...

Clearly [spl] doesn't seem to understand that this is evidently a first in the history of the forum (someone's username destroying the layout), that it's not happening just for me and that it sucks.

Afterall, it's on their ableton.com site and i'm surprised they seem to not care when part of their layout gets messed up.

Just a tip for [SPL] or whoever is the Ableton master of this caucasian-flesh themed forum

go to your style sheet, which is located here
styles/subsilver2/theme/stylesheet.css

and edit line 216 of that document to read
that is all. Problem solved.

Also, i don't get why someone wants to be such a dick and insist on a username that breaks the layout for some/many.
