Aww, no vertical faders?

Are you using MIDIbox to control it? I mean, is it functional yet? I'd be interested to know how difficult the the project seemed to you; I was a little intimidated when looking at the projects on the MIDIbox homepage...

What's the use of faders really? They use so much real estate and the software jumps when you move them...encoders are better

No, it's all Doepfer gear. I too was intimidated by the MIDIBox homepage. Yes it's functional. The project took five months and a rediculous amount of money. But that's prototyping unfortunately, it's time consuming and expensive.

The unit gives jump-free control of up to 192 parameters and switching control of up to a further 49. Data is spread across four MIDI channels. Plus there's a crossfader. It outputs via USB and runs of mains-only via a power adapter (external). There's a few teething troubles to iron out - like my soldering is er...variable and I'd like to find some classier knobs.

Your simulator photo really reminded me of it. Incidentally there is not one single note of music in the entire film which runs to over six hours in its shortest form.

I'm sure a train simulalator would be a lot more fun than my controller to use live :)

Nicely done macro...
Its a bummer that the joystick was not made a reality.
What was your source on the larger lighted buttons, and are they panel mount or are they on a PCB under there?

Thaks very much :) Everything is panel mount. It's easier to prototype with panel mount.
Yes, the only joysticks I could find were £70. At the time I thought this was too much and I committed to a different layout. However, if doing it again I would probably go for it.
The larger buttons are not lit. I got them from Radio Spares (RS Components)
