I've been playing about with this Display Port Panel which uses an iPad 4 Retina screen. So you have a 10 inch 2048x1568 LCD screen, very high quality hooked up to you PC / Mac. Could be useful to some here like this:

Actually - I bought the driver board from Adafruit, and got the LCD off EBay, works out a lot cheaper ($80 for the Driver Board, and LCD I've seen in the USA at least for as low as $30! That's the beauty of using a mass produced Apple part. Bit pricier in other countries, but even so a very high quality screen, for not much money. You'd need to make a housing for it to keep it from damage.

This is awesome! I've been researching a 10 inch screen for quite a while, there isn't much out there that is very good quality.

Any idea if it's possible to use the touch screen functionality?

Not yet. The hardware is available, but it's the patented software that drives the touch screens.
