Audio sample shorter than 1/128

Hi! It's my first post :)

I have a problem with very short audio samples that I put into an arrangment view. Sometimes I can't make them very short. Like now - I'm making some glitchy ghost notes and I can't make them shorter than 1/128. Any help?

Ableton 9.1.6

Welcome Pietras!

Yes, Ableton Live has a limit to how small of a sample you can cut. To carve out a smaller sample, download the free software Wavosaur. You can use that to cut samples all the way down to single data samples. You might have to bounce your original sample to a .wav file to open it in Wavosaur, but from there you can crop it down as small as you like, save it with a new name, and then just drag and drop your new sample into Live.

I've been using it for months to make tiny samples for glitch effects and wave samples for scanner-type synths (like Enzyme). Super easy to use.

You can download it here:

Thanks!

What a pity that it's impossible in Ableton.

Hmmm
But sometimes I have longer samples than 1/128 (like 1/32) and I can't make them shorter. I don't know why it's happening (and only sometimes). I can consolidate that sample and after that I can make it shorter. Any idea?

You don't need Wavosaur, especially when in arrangement.
You're trying to shorten your clip using the clip edge dragging right? Use SPLIT method instead:
put the (orange) cursor at the point you want to cut and press ctrl+E (cmd+E on mac)
The cursor position can be snapped to the grid or not, using ctrl+4 (cmd+4), or pressing alt (cmd) while moving the cursor.
This way you can chop your audio to pieces smaller than 1/16384!

12RT2 - thx man! It's quite obvious but somehow I didn't check it before. Thanks!
BTW I'm just curious why sometimes I can't make samples shorter by draging.
