Hello all
especially Ataru, you seem to be the pioneer here.
I am wanting to know what everybody is using to run Live, what other software you use, and what controllers used.
I want to get a G4 laptop and a USB-428 interface/controller?
has anyone got something to say about this combination...is it a good time to buy a powerbook?
will the USB -428 have low enuff latency??
LIVE IS GREAT
thankyyou

I'm using a G3/500 dual-usb iBook [white] connected to a MOTU828. For control, I use a Peavey PC1600X and have 8 channels of optical ADAT audio coming from the MOTU828 into a Fostex VM88 digital mixer...

Pioneer? Moi?
Anyhow, I'd say don't buy a powerbook till Jan 7th at least, or the Tokyo Expo in Feb.
Apple's going to unleash some sweet new higher speed g3s and gighertz G4s. I'd be surprised if a 700 mhz+ powerbook G4 wasn't around the corner.

oh, and i do everything with my iBook 500 dvd with 256 of ram...
I'm waiting for a gighertz g4 powerbook, and then i'll move up.
I'm also going to get a midiman quatro and a pocket dial/control.

Live is currently running on a 333 mHz Bronzekey Powerbook. Unfortunately no firewire...
My old Kurzweil K2000 serves as trigger keyboard, PhatBoy as my continuous controller.
Hope in the near future to run everything from a Titanium with a Motu Firewire interface...

heye everybody,
i'm thinkin' of buyin' a G4 powerbook, too. d'you really think that it's like the most performance for the money. a toshiba notebook for like half-price with alost the same power (if one can compare) is pretty much below the price for a g4, and the rest-money would go into a nice motu828.
well, dunno, really don't wanna hop on that "I-need-a-mac-or-I-can't-work" train.
but hey, convince me, please.....

Hi ppl,
My system specs are:
Mac G4 dual 450MHz processor, 384MB,
LAP (Logic Audio Platinum) 4.8.1 for preproduction
and AL (Ableton Live) for the real nice work,
I use the Phatboy controler, but i prefer the Doepfer Pocket Dail,
supporting this controler (inc. and decr. comando's), would be realy cool!
masterkeyboard for triggering,
Emagic AMT8 to hookup the midi equipment,
MOTU 2408, the

ASIO driver doesn't work in AL... i'm waiting for update v1.0.4 of AL
Well, that's about all,
oh yea, i almost forgot:
Ableton Live is realy cool

,
can't go without it,
it's an innovation in electronic music,
my salvation and hope, haleluya

,
May the music be with you,
FrankH

Warwick 4-string Electric Bass
Korg PadKONTROL
Novation Remote25 Keyboard
FCB 1010 MIDI Foot Pedal
MOTU Ultralite (soon to be!)
Macbook Pro C2D 15"
Ableton + various VST Instruments and effects (most designed to FSU)
Should be pretty immense once I get the firewire soundcard, as it really is the last missing piece of the puzzle!
