Doing a first gig using ableton...FML

Post by ANONRSS » Sat Jan 17, 2015 8:10 am

Ableton is excellent, the apc40/launchpad/nanokontrol2 combo is PERFECT.- I've previously done gigs using FL Studio and Traktor.

What I'm worrying about is that the venue is not the most suitable for a performance.

It's a nightclub that doesn't ever do live acts. They don't even have a microphone....... the sound is going to be pure garbage.

It's me and a vocalist, the mic is going to be run through my Novation Ultranova, and the ultranova outputs to....... i'm guessing i'm going to go into the mixer that the CD player is running into. I've got a DI box just in case and I've got more cables and ways to connect things AND 2 full hours to set up. I've got my own lights as well, lol------ ugh!

Anyone with experience in shoddy environments? Tips PLEASE!

This article I wrote awhile back should be of some help: http://sessionville.com/articles/dial-i ... in-4-steps
Hong Kong: 2050 A.D. You're about to inject a dose of mind-altering nanobots. This is the soundtrack to your trip. https://seven7hwave.bandcamp.com/album/cyberia

agreed, however my situation is a little different... I'll be going in bare. I'm going to have literally nothing to work with. I'm bringing everything except for the speakers and i'll be plugging into a dj mixer.. not even a proper mixer. oye vey

Gig complete.

It was a fiasco, lol.

There was no sound man and this random dude went behind the dj mixer and started fiddling with knobs. wtf. After yelling at the guy it was all okay. The sound kept fluctuation and I'm not sure if that was due to my interface or the sound system.

ah well, it went well apparently.

lol, not push. an APC40, Launchpad, Nanokontrol 2, and a novation ultranova (full size) as the audio card/to run vocals through.

i'm waiting until i can get push for 300 bucks to grab one.
