I hear a lot of people saying that they master in other programs outside of Ableton, but rarely do I see their reasons why.

So what are the pros and cons of doing everything inside Live?

If you aren't mastering in Live, what software are you using and why?

I've been running some test mixes to masters through Live 9 using Ozone and I'm not having any issues.

I think in general it's less because of any audio or sound quality reasons and more for convenience functions. I can definitely master tracks in Live and be just as happy with them as my main mastering DAW (Triumph), but it just takes me a lot longer. Being able to quickly add fades, strip out silence at the head and tail, customizeable key commands, export to any format I need, etc are all reasons why I find it's easier using another app sometimes.

In Live, it's difficult for me to split tracks that run together such that there's no gap during playback.

On the other hand, Audacity or SoundForge, I know, have a Z hotkey that jumps to zero crossings for accurate and precise splitting.
