Live master - Reason slave - midi input settings?

If I am using Reason as a softsynth from Live via Rewire, how should I be configuring Reason's MIDI external control busses? I seem to have to set them to my keyboard controller, but I think that is a conflict with the 'Midi from' setting in a Live session view track. I'm having trouble recording new Midi clips, and I think this may be the culprit.
Seems to me that Reason should not be told about any of my MIDI controllers, and that Live should be forwarding my MIDI controller message traffic to Reason according to Live specified track parameters. Yes?
