ableton, logic5, mac, ezbus crisis!

i've been up for days pulling my freekin hair out trying to solve this riddle...hopefully one of you may be able to help me.

i'm using a g3 i book with logic 5 & ableton and using an event ezbus usb mixer for my in & out action. Ableton works just fine in finding the in & out of the ezbus. however logic freeks out when i have the ezbus plugged in hiding its record buttons from me. the ezbus uses mac av for the drivers so it shouldn't be an issue.....

here's the weird part.

i finally got so fed up i rebuild my computer...logic works perfect with the ezbus mixer, recognizing it's ins & outs etc....untill i install ableton...then it goes back to it's pesky ways hiding it's damn record functions from me.

i've tried everything i can think of...shutting of extensions..uninstalling live...(which didn't help untill i rewiped my computer)

if i unplug the ezbus it lets me use my built in mic on the mac and the record functions are back....i contacted ezbus but they didn't tell me anything i didn't already know.

i guess i really don't know if this is an ableton issue...a logic issue...or an ezbus issue...any help would be magic.

thanks,

that's interesting (and bummer, man!). I've not 2/4 of teh equasion (10.2.4, an ezbus and Live) and haven't seen any issues with Live and the ezbus. you say that just installing Live (it's drag and drop ?!) causes reason to lose your transport controls? odd. Have you double checked your Audio/MIDI Setup?

Are you using logic and live together? If together, have you tried to rewire live into logic. If separately, do you have the inputs and outputs set to the ezbus in the sound control panel. Sound Manager can get confused if the in/out ports are set to different devices, ie. ezbus on input/built-in on the output. I am assuming you are using os9. As an experiment, shutdown your ibook, unplug your ezbus, restart your ibook, wait for the desktop to build(all icons and drives are mounted),plug in your ezbus and start logic to see if it shows up.... , this could provide a work around, USB drivers can be a bit unstable. Also trash the preferences of possible offenders...

I do not know if this would make a difference, but at least it is some things to try. You should contact emagic also, if you haven't already...

good luck,
