Drum Synth Controls on Push

Why aren't all of the controls available on the Push controller for the Max 4 Live drum synths that come with Ableton Live 9 Suite? Is there an 8 control limitation or something with Max 4 Live? You'd think you'd want to try to have complete integration with your own controller and devices that come with your DAW you create wouldn't you? Some things just boggle the mind here...

There's the stinky 128 parameters limitation. There's no technical reason I know of why Ableton must have that in place. Beyond that it's lazy programming IMHO. Or just different priorities.

With a tool like Push, Ableton should strive to make all parameters available everywhere. I suppose there could be some performance issues, but that should be handled as any other issues of that kind.

Yup, most M4L devices bundled with Suite, like the native ones, also have unfinished Push mappings unfortunately. These can be edited but I don't yet know how. It's probably very simple, one just needs to be pointed in the right direction.

ValiumD shared his Granulator II mapping for example, which is a huge improvement on the default mapping of one bank.

I'll probably end up re-mapping them (once I learn how as well) but I still find it very odd and/or very lazy on Ableton's part to not do this for us.

Is there a link to the Granulator mapping that I can download?

Okay, not a problem

Already figure it out

Load one of the drum synths
Edit the max for live device
Unlock the device for editing
Right Click on a control and choose inspector
Scroll to the bottom of that window where it says "Automapping Index" there should be a number next to it.
Change that number to whatever you want it be on the controller.
So "1" will be the first control on the first bank of parameters. "9" will be the 1st control on the Second bank of parameters etc...

You'll have to save the device after you finish editing the controls.
Now to actually do

Thanks very much, this is gonna be quite useful!

Just did a quick test with Convolution Reverb Pro and added "Decay" and "Size" to control from Push - works fine. Why they're absent by default is just one of those eternal mysteries.

Gonna go trough the handful of devices I use and give them the most glorious mapping mankind has ever seen.

After not being able to figure out how to access objects within objects (in this case Width; Gain; Dry/Wet for Conv Reverb - I can only seem to select the block/frame they're in), I have found that if you go to the menu at the top and choose View - Parameters - you can see them all at once, with their mapping numbers displayed in the third column - "Map#". You can edit these from here too.
