duplicates of all ableton instruments

So my ableton browser shows 2 of everything (instruments, midi and audio FX, etc.). How can I get rid of this?

I also have the problem of all Ableton presets as duplicates.

You probably have the Live 8 library installed. Compare and delete the stuff you don't need.

thanks guys! now the next question is where do I find the live 8 library on my mac (so I can delete it?)

I very much doubt this is the problem. I have the Live 8 library and I don't have duplicates. The Live 9 library and the Live 9 core library are very different.
You can delete the Live 8 library if you want to, but remember there are some great presets and setups in there. Save the ones you like first.
(The path to your live core library is defined in preferences --> files and folders)
