Moving autom. data LEFT/RIGHT & recording into clip launch?

Hello, anybody who can shed light on this question can help out me and possibly others.
* In arrangement view I encountered a problem where I couldn't seem to drag or nudge a pattern of midi data to the left or right. How would I do this with preserving the pattern (rather than having to manually move each node, messing up the original pattern).
* Also, is there any way to record midi data (with or without audio) into a clip launch button? This way, I could record modifications of various parameters of effect plug-ins, audition these permutations in time, and place them into the order that sounds best (rather than messing with highlight, cut & paste in the arrangement view and getting into timing mismatch issues)
I'm using Live 9 and a Windows laptop. I've tried holding ctrl, shift & alt + left click and combinations thereof, but the automation seems to only move up & down. Thanks!!
