APC40 mkII button color variation

Just bought a new APC40 mkII and I'm seeing 4-5 distinct colors on the launch buttons for a single clip color.
Attached image shows what I see when all clips are set to white.
If I set all the clips to green, the APC buttons are green but with a similar pattern that makes it look like i'm seeing 4-5 different clip colors.

A little variation wouldn't surprise me. But this seems pretty extreme.
Anyone else experiencing this?

So far Akai support has been less than helpful...

Is this running off bus power or off the AC adapter?

Probably just a function of LED quality.

Yeah, Push has the same "problem"

whats happening here is that each button contains a Tri-Color RGB LED and to make the color "white", all LED are on at the same time.

Due to small variances in the output of the RGB LEDs, you'll see somewhat inconsistent coloring versus what you'd see if the buttons contained an RGBW LED where a separate White emitter was used instead of combining RBG to make white.

I wouldn't recommend returning the unit for a replacement as you'll probably notice the same issue on the new unit as well.

hope this helps

there is no AC adapter on the APC40 mkII. at least I can't find one...
Wish there were as it might have solved the issue...

I hear ya. Not to mention Akai (non)support is making it easy to go that route by not getting back to me...

Thanks for the note!
