Anybody using The Drop filter plugin?

https://cytomic.com/drop

Seems to be getting rave reviews but I've never heard of it. IMO its a poor name choice because anybody who isn't producing bangers probably isn't going to bother checking it out.

Been around way before the Bro-step term came about. It's made by the guy who made the glue, which he based off the SSL bus compressor. He was the one that also incorporated some of his code into the Live 9 eq (or something like that). Because of his involvement, some of us were already hoping he'd collaborate on a Live version of Drop (or add his models into Auto-Filter).

I think I've found something I'd be willing to replace my old Electribe ER-1 with. The Vermona DRM-1 matches the way I actually work with drum sounds. Fully analog and individual outputs for each drum sound? Sounds like sound-designing heaven!!!

So damn expensive compared to what I paid for the ER-1, but I'm feeling the pull of it....

Saw The Glu connection but I don’t have it or Live 9, so no experience there. I’ve already got enough compressors and don’t know what makes any of them special or ideal for different situations. Looks like I missed The Drop because the top filter plugin lists when googled are from 2012 for some reason, newer lists are below that. Also don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned on here, or at least not Zebra2 level repeat mentions.

Andrew Simper (Cytomic) interview from a while back, covers his methodology. Circuit emulation and modelling.

I agree, I think the name is kinda not so great for marketing the product.

Relayer. Saw some videos awhile back that made it seem like just another delay plugin but this vid gives you a better idea of the sounds you can get.

Got The Drop demo last week, I think I'll be buying it - it is truly PHAT!
Reminds me of the glory days of my old Akai S3200 filters.

Try the demo presets with some plain sawtooth - I don't think you'll be disappointed!

This hardly viewed video messing with The Drop made me go :) 8O :)

And then I thought about trying to automate all that messing around into a track and was :x . Not the plug's fault. That's just how overwhelmed I get.

As it happens, the S3000 filters were designed as emulations of the Jupiter-8 filter, so we're all singin from the same hymnbook, brother! :D

I’ll be getting The Drop later today.

I’ll also be getting Saturn because until tomorrow I can get $10 off on top of my “you’ve bought a lot from us already, bro” discount. That should complete my Fabfilter collection because everything I don’t already have is geared towards live instruments or vocals or is some surgical tool that I’m more likely to fuck things up than make them better.
