What can I do to minimize the cpu usage ? Its going over a 100% ( funny enough ) and the sound is way off.

What is the best settings I can use ?

This is what I using for settings now..

44100 Rate
32 samples

Try improving air flow beneath your laptop. I've had some really alarming cpu scores just because the surface my laptop was resting on wasn't clearing heat fast enough. Just an idea... :)

...32 samples is extremely low so first i'd raise the buffer to 128 samples (which is still "playable")...then: is your battery on full charge / connected to power supply?...my macbooks' cpu goes through the roof when i have less than 20/30% battery...

Yeah, the power is connected, and its the CPU on LIVE that goes thru the roof.

Ill try to set it up to 64. Maybe that helps ?

Anything else ?

Should not a full spec mid 2012 do the job ?

It wont do the job if you keep so luch buffers, 128 is enough if you are recording or playin, if you arent you can go up to 512. Als, what audio interface are you uisng?

I've been able to use 64 samples on RME audio interfaces for quite some load, but the more I add I'll soon need to up this to 128, 256 and 512 (Mixdown time).

If this helps (even a bit) look into a USB fan under your computer (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-FAN-LAPTOP- ... 417045faab)

Otherwise - I'm not on mac and know nothing about them really, but my laptop CPU was going up into the 130's last year - I bought a new computer. I know that's not really an option, but in hindsight I could have tidied up what I was doing. What kinda thing are you trying to do on ableton? Can it be simplified or is it already as simple as it gets?

Any other programs running in the background? Virus's are more a pc problem, but anything demanding that you might not realise is there?
