I come up with much better ideas when I'm jamming on the APC and would like to capture these to a new scene without leaving the APC. Is it possible - maybe with a script?

No APC users here who might know? I've also posted this question on the Akai support page but have been ignored so far.

There is a keyboard shortcut for it.

I think your best bet would be to use something like Clyphx. You'd either have to assign that command in a clip and map the clip to something on the apc or use an additional controller (since you wouldn't use the APC as an xcontrol) and adjust Clyphx settings to give that function to a control.
