2nd Track Volume Slider for Volume Automation & other ideas

Agree with many of the posts here.

But I would definitely prefer improvements to editing rather than new instruments or effects. Mainly:

1. Add a second Track Volume slider below the Track Pan slider in Arrange view, which can be used for automation, leaving the main Track Volume slider free for overall track level when mixing. It would make mixing volume vs volume automation much easier. I know you can add a Utility, but my suggestion would be much more convenient.
2. More midi manipulation buttons in the midi editor, e.g. fill 1/8ths, randomise volume of notes.
3. Basic audio editing in clip view.
4. Improve visability with dark skins - has had some improvements, but not there yet.
5. Drastic overhall of the browser.
6. Custom keyboard shortcuts.
7. Everything available in the right click menu.
8. Fill up blank spaces around the edges with customisable buttons or useful shortcuts or macros or something.
9. Add better control to the zooming and sizing of piano roll, clip editor, etc. Mainly create customisable default sizes so that you don't have to keep adjusting.
10. Merge Clip and Notes menus into one and make it morph in shape to fill the available area above it so we have more space to do actual editing.

Just off the top of my head.

BTW, do Abes watch this thread and take on some of the suggestions?

I use a gain device at the end of the device chain for volume automations in case I want to have the track volume slider free for manual control. I think it's a more standard approach than 2 volume sliders on the track, that would be a bit weird. You can either use utility device which works okay for +-35db or you can make yourself tiny stereo gain device in M4L that works -inf to +6db like I use. It's super easy to make - just a live.gain~ object and connect the two inputs and outputs -> HERE (right click and save as)

Why would it be weird? One slider would be for overall track level and the other for automation. It saves you from having to open up the effects lane or the drop down menu all the time. And you could see if you have volume automation on a track with one glance.

Actually when I think about it I have to agree - some gain control like there is on mixing consoles for each track might be nice to have.
