Preparing audio settings

Hi everyone, I wanna know if somebody could help me with the audio settings of ableton, cause I'm having troubles with my controller. The problema is that the audio sometimes cuts and then it goes again, it seems like the CPU is overcharged, and I don't know how to solve this.

Are you using too many plug ins? Is the CPU meter at the top of Live reading high values? What are your current audio settings, and what soundcard are you using? Are you using the latest drivers for the soundcard? Do you have the same issues if you use the onboard soundcard?
