We're happy to share the new Max Essentials after many moons of work with you.
Grab it here:

Go to the Max application icon (Applications folder) and Get Info (command+I). Make sure "Open in 32-bit mode" is checked if you are running Live 32-bit.D3VOUR wrote:Having a little issue with loading the new instruments (Bass, Multi, Poli).
I downloaded Essentials 2 and tried to fire up Bass, but I was hit with an error mentioning I needed Max 7. So I went in my Ableton account and did the update (32 bit OS X). I installed it and updated my preferences in Ableton to point to the new Max 7 app and I restarted Ableton as instructed.
However, after I relaunched Ableton I got hit with an error when trying to load Bass. It says "The selected Max application could not be loaded. A 32-bit version is probably required".
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks!
Just check this. The open in 32-bit box IS checked.stringtapper wrote:Go to the Max application icon (Applications folder) and Get Info (command+I). Confident I got the 32-bit version. The cycling74 URL when I download it even has "os=mac&bits=32" in it.stringtapper wrote:This is just a guess but are you sure you downloaded the 32bit version of Max 7? I noticed that the difference between those isn't fully obvious if you check the download page. Do you get the same issue when loading other M4l devices or do those work normally?
Just to cover all bases, are you positive you are running Live in 32-bit?D3VOUR wrote:Confident I got the 32-bit version. The cycling74 URL when I download it even has "os=mac&bits=32" in it.

Angstrom wrote:It's worth mentioning that Max7 (for Live) is a free update. That wasn't really clear to me until somebody explicitly stated "you can upgrade from M4L6 to M4L7 for nothing, no money"
Usually integers cost money.
Upgrading to Max7 solved quite a few of of my Live crashing problems.
