M4L 6 and 7 installed simultaneously or just 7

Hi,
This might be a silly question - would there be any point in keeping M4L 6 installed instead of just replacing it with M4L 7?
I have a huge number of version 6 devices - will they open up fine in 7?

Thanks much, peepz!

It's best to try and open those devices with 7 and see. For the most part things should be compatible.

Version 7 will not overwrite your version 6 install.

From the cycling74 forum: Topic: Max 7 Backwards Compatible? «

When installing m4l 7 you need to set the path in Live's files/folders preferences. So you can't use both versions from Live simultaneously, anyway. And without Max 7 you can't use the Max Essentials 2 (all those shiny new Max devices).

Unless you own a standalone license for Max 6 but not 7, you can just as well ditch the former.

Thanks guys -
Ableton Forum rocks!

After nearly 10 years of Ableton, and screwing around with other DAWS - PT, DP, Cubase, Logic,
professionally and otherwise,
I still love and appreciate Live, despite its faults and weaknesses.

So you're saying it's safe to delete max6 and live will automatically use max7?

No, see my answer in your original thread: Installed max7, why is live9.5 still using max6?
