I am trying to use third party guitar amp simulation vsts, including the LePou plugins, in ableton live 9 on mac osx. Are there any articles or other resources dedicated to doing this in ableton on a mac? Most references are to windows and reaper. For example, on a mac what folder should impulse response files go in? A step by step guide for using this in ableton would be helpful. I am hoping it already exists and someone can point me to it. Thanks in advance.

In general there is no specific universally accepted path to place impulse responses. I've chosen to use "~/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses"* as that is the most logical place for me, but you could place them anywhere you find convenient and useful.
Under this folder I have both complete third party libraries sorted under name and also my own IRs sorted under my name.

I keep my sample library just next to it too. I've added both of these to the Live browser, so I can find them from inside Live.

The sim products may have their own preference where they want their factory IRs. You should find those in the documentation or in their forums. Likely most can be pointed to your place of preference.

* "~" meaning the path to your home folder.
