I'm trying to map an endless rotary encoder to a macro Knob but I don't always get the relative/signed bit etc... options appearing when doing so which makes it impossible to configure properly. The behaviour is very random, sometimes it appears sometimes it doesn't.
What's going on?

How are you turning the encoder? I'd try seeing if a certain behavior makes it more likely for options to pop up. Like, slow vs fast. And only one direction vs back and forth. Large turn vs small turn.

Live tries to read the behavior based on the data being sent by your control. If it isn't giving off a signature of that type of control, it might not realize what you're using.

It makes no difference whatsoever, when it works it works and when it doesn't it doesn't. I've just spend 20 mins trying over and over to no avail. It was all working fine for an hour before it stopped working. It appears to be completely unreliable

What controller is it?

Do you have additional controllers which might interfere?

this is happening with any controller

I mean, what specific model of controller is it? Some controllers have endless knobs but do not use endless midi methods (relative instead), especially some Akai models.
