Artists worth following

by re:dream
So I have of late found myself realising it's a long time since I have heard a genuinely interesting or exciting new artist & I've decided it's time to head off into a deep dive of the interweb, in search of new and interesting electronic artists. There's lots of lovely commercial stuff around (I'm listening to Lorde in my car 8) ) but I am particularly interested in people who take risks, who do interesting new things, and whose music stands up to repeated listening.

I will post whatever I find really interesting and worthwhile on this thread, and would love it if others do the same.

Please post songs, artists' own pages, interviews and articles, your own comments...

If the thread becomes interesting I will use the first post as a kind of index or contents page.

thanks!

So here's me first one:

Arca

https://soundcloud.com/arca1000000/arca ... air-fw15-1

Interesting artist. Very young, very creative, very intense, melodious and dissonant style.
Like all of his solo offerings so far, Mutant can be hard to wrap your head around. The album's melodies are slippery, elusive things. They bob like eye floaters, refusing to come into focus; around them surges a riot of colors, textures, and shuddering rhythms. At any given moment some sound or another is either coming into being or in the process of disintegration. The music's organizing principles feel almost biological—if you could amplify the sounds of proteins going about their biochemical business, you suspect it might sound something like this

For me he sounds a little like Burial, but on acid.

Here's another:

Holly Herndon

Very unlike Arca - in fact she reminds me a lot of Laurie Anderson in that she makes heavy use of her own voice, and that a lot of her music is political / social category in that oblique Andrerson way. I am listening to Movement and Platform at the moment. Very smart, cerebral music, and her production skills of are off the chart.

Here we go again! Oldies, but goldies! I haven't heard nothing better in my life!
I love the analog warmth of their vocals! And that discrete sound of music!

Enjoy!

This probably leans towards the commercial but I'm posting it under the "interesting" request. On a background listen it sounds like an early 90's rock song but when paying closer attention there in fact isn't any guitar and you'd be forgiven for thinking the chorus is backed by distorted guitar power chords when in fact its a synth.

Thanks for all these suggestions! Some amazing artists there.

Meanwhile, here's another find of mine:

This is one of the members (ex members?) of Hofuku Sochi, which is one of my favourite chillwave/glo-fi electronic outfits.
