Dedicated mixer

Ableton seriously needs a quality dedicated mixing window. I can't stand mixing in Ableton. I have to go over to Pro tools to do my final mix down because its just so much better. Ableton has been around for a long time now and I love a lot of the features but its really lacking in this area.

Can you give some examples of features you'd like to see?

Have a look at Pro tools. Thats all I have to say. Ableton pales in comparison as far as the mixer goes.

The more I look at PT, the less I understand why I should use it. So, I also think some examples would help understanding what's better in your opinion.

Also as a separate window for viewing on a Secondary Monitor.

In Ableton you have to click on the channel, get into the device view and see what's in there (often scroll from left to right to). This allows for only one channel at a time whereas whit Pro Tools and Logic you can see what FX are inserted on multiple channels at one. Not only can you view them in the mixer inserts themselves, you can also load and open them from there.
Super handy for mixing.. period.
yep. Cubase works like that too and i have to agree based on using it.
i also like the floating mixer... i know Ableton has it all in the single GUI and i'm not into too many things floating around and cluttering up the work space, but in the case of the mixer... i wish the Abes would make an exception.

First off, shout out to Madeline Bloom.

If you havent explored the possibilities with the Options.txt file, I suggest you do so.
Now you can see which plugins you have loaded in each channel. Much similar to Logic and Pro-tools.

Dont know if this is exactly what you want, but as of version 9.1, you can open a second window in Live.
"View > Second Window"

Hey Eric, unstable as in affects performance or playback, or the noted display issues?

Nothing that would lead to a crash, but annoying little bugs like device name that don't update when moved or renamed and things like that.

Exactly, sorry for not seeing your questions earlier. It's a neat idea, but it's definitely got some issues too.
