Vestax VCM 600 - still worth it?

So this thing is a beast and about 5 / 6 years ago was the deluxe midi controller but I can't pull the trigger for some reason...

I'm really after something with faders to complement Push, that i can do dub style hands on mixing on. I'm not really interested in an APC/Clip launcher, so have narrowed it down to:

Novation Launch Control XL (with isotonik's XXL patch) - £120 + £15ish
Livid DS1 - £300
Vestax VCM 600 - £160ish (if bought from Germany where it still seems to be on sale) or less second hand

The Livid is very expensive for what it is, though obviously nice. The novation is portable but i don't want wobbly lightweight faders.

I'm veering towards the Vestax as its built like a tank, vestax make good mixers and I think the layout fits my style more than the others, and it has obvious DJing capabilities which I like.

My only concern is its age - is anyone still using this with Live 9 (9.6) and how is it going - do the standard mappings work. Just worried i'll get it then it will become obselete - though i want to be convinced it still has a place in the modern home studio

Thoughts from other users?

Alternatives:

1) Akai Midimix

2) Behringer BCR2000 (+ maybe a Korg Nanokontrol if you need faders)

I was experimenting with one for a few months. Solid controller. Only sold it because it was too much controller for my purposes. Still works nicely with the remote scripts.

Hi, I am thinking of buying the VCM 600, did you finally bought it?
Can you share your thoughts about it?
Thanks!

I don't know about the original poster, but I bought one recently - from the site in Germany (it can easily be found by searching 'VCM600' in Google Shopping).

Considering what the VCM600 used to cost, they're an absolute bargain now. I always wanted one, but the earlier prices put me off.

Unfortunately the remaining stock from that site is not in perfect condition (the site mentions this), but I still think it's a worthwhile purchase.

It's a lot of hardware for the money (plus it's well constructed), and there's little or nothing else like it.

The Novation's faders are actually not that wobbly / lightweight. I recently bought one and I can even dj with them decently as a Traktor controller and to add to that, I assigned two faders as pitch fader and they do great. I also was torn between those 3 controllers, the livid is nice but just too expensive (should have endless encoders for that price with led rings). The Novation is just great.
