Video and Audio in the same Live set.. does it work?

Have any of you successfully used (pre-recorded) video files in your live set (in an onstage scenario)? I'm talking a set where you've a bunch of other stuff going on too - effects, etc. If so, please give me your specs and other relevant info. I'm currently in a position where I need to be portable for some shows, so a second laptop running visuals is NOT an option. Thanks ......
