I hope I'm just missing something but does the clip editor in session mode actually edit clips?
I can only see how it warps a clip and transpose and blah blah blah.... but why can I not select a bar of the clip and duplicate that over the next bar? That's what clip editing would actually be... warping a clip is warping a clip not editing it.

So I know you can record the clip to arrangement a re-form the clip that way, but why have that work around? Is there not a way to cut and paste within the clip editor?

Another major question: Do I really need to record just to get a clip into the arrangement. I've tried to drag one into the arrangement view selector... i thought I saw someone do that in a video to skip the recording of the clip, but I can't get it to work. Do I really have to sit there while it records two bars so I can cut the clip up within the clip?

Hope it's just me...

I think the biggest intent for the Clip editor was to Warp clips. It does have a function to open audio in 3rd party editor to edit clip.

You can drag things. You can loop and duplicate things. Loop brackets are in the clip editor, but you can also duplicate a highlighted portion however many times if you don't want to loop.

To edit, use Arrangement view and highlight parts you've cut up etc, then 'consolidate' to create a single clip out of it.

to move a clip from session view into arrangement you click and hold the clip in session view, then press tab to switch to the arrangement view while holding the mousebutton. Then you can release the clip in arrangement view. I think you can also just copy-paste it.
As for actually editing the contents of the audio within a clip (which I supposed you are talking about), I don't think you can do that. You'd have to put it in arrange view, then do the edits on the timeline there and then consolidate into a new clip.
With midi clips it's different and there you can of course edit and copy paste the notes within the clip editor as much as you want.
