drag existing clip to new track

I don't know if this has been asked for before or if I'm missing something but why the hell can't I drag an existing clip, in session view, into a new track...

say I have 4 different clips in one track that I've been testing against a drum loop, I often want to drag one of these into a new track so I can play two of these clips together or put a different fx on one.

I know it's possible to CTRL-T and then drag but just being able to drag the clip over into a blank area seems so intuitive because it's how you get them into the session from the browser in the first place...

Plus having to whack a CTRL-T in can interrupt the work flow when you're just drag-n-dropping in the zone, whizzing stuff around the tracks in a session...

Thanks,

It works fine for me to drag a clip to an empty space, therefore automatically creating a new track, audio or midi. Give it another try. Otherwise, it may be dome sort of a bug I think.
Hope that helps,

I mean dragging it from a session clip, not from the browser...
dragging form the browser is fine, I want to drag it form a group of clips already in a track in session view.

if I drag it from a clip in a seesion track to where you normally do for clips I get the circle with line through cursor and if I drop the clip it just goes back to it's original track.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that there is no indicator when you are holding down the mouse button as you're dragging. There's my wish. A change in the mouse icon would let me know that I have something to drop in a track.
