Live causes Macbook over heating at 1% of CPU usage ??

Hi there. If I load an empty Live set, which says its using just 1 or 2% of my CPU, I find that within 2 minutes the fan in my 2015 15" Macbook starts going full belt trying to cool itself. In contrast I can run a massive arrangement in Logic with literally hundreds of plugins open and the fan doesn't spin hardly at all.

Does anyone else have this problem / know what the problem is? Activity monitor says there's no activity so why does the fan start?

The CPU usage meter does not show total CPU load. It shows audio processing load. In other words, it calculates how fast Live's processing of audio is keeping up with actual playing speed. There's a basic explanation of this here

So it could be that your macbook is taking a huge processing power hit, but not related to audio processing. It could be that there are other things going on that are also using up processing power.

Check Activity Monitor or Task Manager to get a more accurate idea of what the CPU load is and what is causing it.
