Can you achieve/elaborate the following routing in Ableton?

Hi!
I've got a question relating to the routing that Feed Me uses in this Rat Trap tutorial (see minute 2:22 to 5:00).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NwVhHR9tc8

It seems like simple parallel distortion though I don't quite get what he means by the kick pushing the hi hats.

It looks like:

Kick-->Drum Group
Hats-->Drum Group ???
Kick-->Send to Distortion Return
Hats-->Send to Distortion Return

Can someone that knows FL elaborate on what exactly the routing is?

Thanks!

Around 3:00 he explains the "kick pushing the hats". Both the kick and the hats are routed to the distortion send/return channel. When just the hihats are playing, they aren't loud enough to trigger the distortion. When the kick hits, the loudness of the kick causes the distortion to engage. Since both the kick and hats are on the distortion channel, they will both be distorted when the kick triggers the distortion.

Feed Me / Spor is big on effects that don't kick in until some threshold is crossed. In his earlier Razer video, he talked about using GlissEQ to not apply EQ until a sound reached a certain level of loudness. This is a similar "don't apply the effect until the loudness hits a certain threshold" technique.

Hey,

Thanks for the explanation. I'll re-watch the video and give it another go!

Thanks!
