Burst of noise at end of audio export
Hi there
I often find that when I export a song to audio there is a loud burst of sound issuing from the monitors at the moment the process ends.
Interestingly this happens even when the end of the track is almost silent. I currently have a song that ends very very quietly and I still get this splashy, echoey burst of noise when it finishes rendering.
What causes this?
And is it possible for one to stop it?
It does not really cause problems, although it can be intrusive and irritating.
Thanks!

Haven't seen that myself. Are you using any plug ins on the master?

Re: Burst of noise at end of audio export
Yep, I have seen this problem!
At least in my setup, it is caused when the end of the export comes before the track has reached complete silence. Let's say there is a very quiet reverb tail that extends beyond the end of the track markers--that's the sort of thing that will cause this. Sustained pads or echos will also do it. It may not even be audible, but if there is any sound at all beyond the end of the export, it will cause this burst of noise when it finishes.
The solution I've found is to extend the endpoint of the export another couple bars. So if the export screen shows that the track ends at 168,0,0, just change that to 170,0,0 or more.

Yeah I occasionally get this in a project and it depends on certain plugins basically what Richie Witch said.
As part of the rendering the master audio is "muted" then it's like once the render completes the mute switch is deactivated which causes an audio spike if there is still a slight amount of processing happening but for some plugins that seems to cause a slight issue until they settle so it can create a large audio spike or a crack. You can normally see the meters peak after the render completes then zero out. I had an old shitty amp years ago that had no speaker protection relay so when you switched it on power was applied direct to the op-amps then to the speakers. It would create a massive crack and come in loud then settle within a second to actual volume which sounds like a similar type of thing.
I always try to remember to add a bar of silence at the start and several bars at the end by adding just a blank clip up to where I want things to stop.

Re: Burst of noise at end of audio export
YES! I just got a new laptop a few days ago, downloaded live and I am experiencing this problem every single time I export. It's quite ridiculous I've been using Ableton since live 8 and I've never had this problem on any of the three computers I've used Ableton on, until now. This is a BRAND NEW laptop and I'm worried the burst of noise is going to damage the speakers. I have the same export settings as my old computer and I'm mastering the same way and even running the same version of Ableton Live 10 but for whatever reason this only happens on my new laptop... wild. I shouldn't have to make sure my tracks are completely silent before rendering, especially when it stops audio anyways to process. Never had to do that before so why do I have to now? I'd like to understand more about this problem, any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I am experiencing this issue as well - seems to be associated with certain plugins but it's hard to tell. I'm working on something with a simple Ableton Delay on Return 2 and this return channel is rendering several huge bursts of noise near the end of the track for no apparent reason. There is no audio even running into that Send at the time. Has there been any update on this issue? Running the latest version of Live 12.1.5 on an M1 MacBook Air OS 14.7.2
Re: Burst of noise at end of audio export
To avoid an abrupt end, I insert a utility into the master track and use an automation curve to insert a fade-out at the end, which ensures that there is no level at the end of the track.
I always define the track length with the activated, cleanly set loop region, which takes decaying effects and resonances into account.
