i don't know what has been done to make it change to this (accidental short cut perhaps?) but when i am in for eg arrangement view, and click on, let's say a clip to focus on it, the second i click it i get a horrid and ditracting piano hit!
or when i copy and paste.
why is this happening?

We probably need to know a little more about your setup. Can I assume you have a piano instrument open in a midi track? Have you used either key or midi mapping on this set? I will assume the answer to both is yes...

If this is a very important set, I would save it under another name and then do my trouble shooting and experimentation.

First, make sure the mixer is open and see if you can get the sound to occur and see what channel the sound is coming from. Once you know what channel, you can trouble shoot.

If you know the channel and have recorded a midi track on it and don't want to lose it, I would copy it to a new midi channel. Then I would delete the instrument from the problem channel and re-load it. I might even delete the whole channel and start with a new midi track.

Once you have the instrument reloaded and before moving the recorded midi back to the replaced channel, make sure that sound doesn't happen without the midi information. If not, then copy the midi information back to the replaced channel and see if that solved the problem. Then you can re-map it either with key or midi mapping as you like it.

Anyway, that is what I would do...

I remember reading something that about that being a Windows OS issue. Can't remember the specifics though and a search here isn't helping. Maybe it points you in the right direction of things to check though.

Yes. Sounds like he's got his MIDI output set to the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth.
