Clip Slot Appearance

I'm curious if there's a way to modify the appearance of single empty clip slot in Live via the Live API. I'm seeing there are both "color" and "color index" properties listed in the 'clip_slots N' info. However, it's a 'NoneType' property and, therefore, not really functional. Any ideas? Is this even possible?
