A projector as a strobe light?

Hello, I was interested in synchronizing a light to flash every time a certain note plays in one of my songs, but many of the DMX solutions are very expensive and what I want is much simpler. I was thinking that maybe I could have a projector connected to the same computer that ableton is playing from somehow translate the midi signal to a simple white screen that flashes each time the note plays; do yall know any easy ways to make this happen?
Thanks so much!

Any VJ app that receives MIDI will do this. A good, pro, cheap one is Magic:

https://magicmusicvisuals.com

$70 USD

All you'd need to load would be a black and a white still frame, and assign each to a MIDI note you send from Live.
I'm on mac and I use the virtual IAC MIDI bus to send MIDI from Live to my VJ apps, You can use LoopBe1 on PC:

Magic will do so much more too... as many mutli-track MIDI-triggered, sound-reactive objects as you like.
I'd suggest downloading the Demo version here:

https://magicmusicvisuals.com/download

The Demo contains almost all the functionality of the full Performer edition. The main limitations are that saving is disabled, and a watermark will appear on the output after 30 days.

Using video projection as lighting is the shiznit! Here's my setup of a projector directly behind me, firing forward thru haze... poor-man's intelligent lighting! (lasers at the top, not mine...)
