It just sits in the dock for ages doing nothing when I start it up - I can go and make a coffee and it might be open by the time I get back, plus it takes ages to close too. What has happened?

Indexing?

I think with each new version it must rebuild the library so this can create a delay. Otherwise not sure.

I don't think that about library rebuilds is correct. I have an almost complete Suite library and some commercial packs and Max For Live devices as well as some additional sample libraries of my own and I never notice any indexing troubles, certainly not when I update Live. An SSD helps of course.

Usually you can see if there is a Live indexing process running and how much CPU it's using in Activity Monitor.

Try redownloading and reinstalling after a computer restart, does that work?

this would be why you don't notice indexing. anyone on a platter drive should still feel it.
