WAV files into audio tracks are unusable

I recorded some tracks on a QSC Touchmix 16 for a band that play perfectly fine in Media Player, GarageBand, and iTunes but when put into an audio track in Live they're completely unusable. The peak meter maxes and they're very distorted. There will even be a bit of feedback type squeal when the track is played but no instrument is present. I've tried converting the files to different formats (32 and 24 bit fixed integer) but still no luck. I thought maybe there was an I/O issue on the computer but I get the same result on the desktop PC and the Macbook Pro. Warp is off. It has to be something simple. Suggestions?

Did you read this in the Touchmix manual?:
"Do not unplug your TouchMix until you have stopped recording! If you do, your recorded tracks will not be usable. You must end the Session by touching the STOP button on the transport control. Doing so writes a header le that is needed in order to play back the recording or import it into a DAW."
I'm not sure if this applies, but it stuck out.

Did you try the files in iTunes or in some other compatible player and it sounds OK there? Try Audacity or Ocenaudio. Both being free.

Feel free to send me a PM with a link to one of the files if you'd like someone else to check it out for you. If it's corrupted I might be able to fix it.

Yep, I read this and the recording was stopped before ejecting the SSD. The files play fine in iTunes, media player, online, and in GarageBand. I'm only having issues in Ableton.

Thanks Erik, PM sent.

Same problem here with the Touchmix 16.

To get it working, I have to open the files in an editor and resave them (32 bit float wav). That's it. Then they work fine in ableton.

Hey Folks...I have had the same issue with importing files from QSC Touchmix 16 into Ableton Live 10 (Windows). Here is what you need to do to fix it.

First thing is you have to use QSC Touchmix DAW Utility tool which can be downloaded at the QSC website to get the Touchmix recordings in a usable format for any DAW. Read the QSC manual on how to use the DAW utility tool. For Ableton Live users, make sure you have the "Export Format" on the DAW Utility Tool set to either "24 bit integer" or "float". Be aware that the QSC DAW utility defaults the Export Format to "32 bit integer" when you open the tool. You have to change it to either "24 bit integer" or "float" every time! Ableton Live 10 will not import the wav files correctly and they will sound distorted when you use 32 bit integer format on the QSC DAW utility to generate the WAV files.

Another forum user indicated to load the wave files into a wav editor and then re-save. That works too, but it is an unnecessary step if you follow the above instructions.

Hope this helps!
