(Long time since I posted around here). Our Zoom R24 is on the fritz and we may be looking for an alternative. However, it seems most items out there fall into one of two categories - either hardware mixers which only allow recording a single stereo mix via USB, or an interface which allows multiple inputs to be recorded at once, but doesn't have an interface like a mixer (not tabletop, no faders). I'm not even all that worried about the hardware recording abilities of the R24.

Can someone recommend a mixer which allows all of the inputs to be recorded individually and simultanously into Ableton via USB? I'm hoping there is a solution that isn't incredibly expensive (meaning less than $1000).

Cheers.

As I understand you need a sound interface with built-in DSP. There are a lot options according to your simultaneous lines like TC Electronic, RME, Focusrite and ... interfaces.

For similar needs I am currently considering the Soundcraft Signature 22 MTK, the Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK, the Behringer UFX 1604, and also some discontinued models by Allen & Heath and Mackie. The first three I mentioned all come in at under $1000. Right now I've decided to wait until NAMM to see what else hits the market. It seems this there is a growing call for this kind of mixer/interface combo.
