Hello,

I got a micro for my birthday. I plugged it to my Focuscrite 2i2 and tried to record something in an audio track in Ableton. All worked.
Then I loaded one of the track I am working on with maily MIDI tracks and added an audio track. All worked.
Then I plugged my headphones to the jack plug located on the bottom right of the Focuscrite 2i2 which allows me to listen to what is being played while singing on it.

The issue is I don't know how to only get the sound coming out from the headphones and not from the speakers which are plugged to the Focuscrite. So when I want to record me singing, the micro also records what is being played on the speakers unless I turn them off. Is there any other way ?

Judging from what I know and see it's a 2 output (stereo) soundcard, that means that you cannot send the Master or Cue to different outs, since there are no different outs: what you listen from your headphones and from the line outs has to be the same, unless you do direct monitoring with your headphones (edit: from what I read on the 2i2 the direct monitoring switch redirects the direct monitoring also to the line outs, not only to the headphones). So, as long as there's no physical or software switch in the control panel of your soundcard allowing you to switch off only the Line Outputs, you'll have to switch off the speaker system, unplug the cables (not advised), lower the volume of your speaker system or switch it to a silent channel.

Or, in the interface manual:

NOTE: You run the risk of creating an audio feedback loop if loudspeakers are active at the same time as a microphone! We recommend that you always turn off (or turn down) monitoring loudspeakers while recording and use headphones when overdubbing.

Maybe you could work around that problem using a double mono configuration, but I consider this workaround more difficult to manage than the problem itself.
