Crazy inaccuracies when using keyboard as a midi controller

Hey guys, I'm having a lot of problems when I am trying to use my computer's keyboard as a midi controller. The response is totally all over the place. When i push the keys most of the time there is a delay before a note sounds, then sometimes it gets unstuck or something and plays on time. Also many times I will release a key and the note will still sound for a second before silencing. Basically it's impossible for me to program any keyboard lines or drum beats this way. I'm using a G4 Powerbook 1.5 mhz with 1 gb of RAM. Thanks.

Make sure each clip's launch quantization is set to 'none'.
Or, if the clips are set to 'global', change 'global' to 'none'.
Now your clips will launch immediately when you trigger them.

Which version are you using?
Because one of the bugfixes in Live 4 addressed this issue.

also, there are some examples of IM clients like Trillian seriously fucking with your keyboard response times.
