1. i would like to be able to have vst midi out, so that i could use reaktor sequencers to trigger other vstis..ect.
2. i would also like to be able to save presets of vst/i's just like u can with live devices.

You can do that now, but not by setting a MIDI OUT path from the track hosting the VSTi. You have to fetch the MIDI output of the VSTi track into the second track where you open the other VSTi that is going to be trigged/controlled by the midi stream. Of course this does only work if the first VSTi is capable of sending out midi (but I guess he NI stuff do that).

Another trick I have been is to use a midi streaming path outside Live to rout midi to a different track/VSTi (or AU). In OS X there is this IAC MIDI bus in the operating system and it can pipe midi not only between different application but in Live also between any tracks where you set midi to go out or come in over the IAC bus.

On PC I remember using something called Hubis Loopback for similar midi piping, but I guess there are other third party utilies as well (got no PC right now to check it out).

If I have not misunderstood Live 5 this will be the way to go.

wow, thank u Per. i figured it out. i just had to use the midi out on reaktor, like u said. cant wait to try it on my nord.
what i meant about the vst presets, is that i wish it were as straight forward to save vst/i presets as it is to save presets in the live devices.
thanx for ur time

(Bump) - I'm hoping for wish number 2 as well.

I love the way presets are managed for Live devices. Here's to hoping the same happens for VST's and VSTi's.
