Hi, every other post I found was dealing with piano/midi keyboards...


I've been having an issue that is now past the point of driving me crazy. I'll be in the flow and then suddenly I try to rename a track---CMD R- and it doeesnt work. I try to delete a clip with the [DEL] button and it doesnt work. CMD D does not duplicate...you get the idea.

Anybody know if this is related to ableton or my mac? These functions don't screw up when Im just typing out on notepad so I'm wondering whats happening in ableton...

Any ideas? Thank you.

is this a new issue, or something that recently started happening? my first thought would be that you just don't have a right element in focus, or that your keystrokes are going to a plugin...

I've had this problem and reported this to support. Been a while since last time. What version do you use? Check and see if the commands aren't "stolen" by the current device, i e if you rename the track it's the device that's renamed and so on. This was what happened to me.

It's been going on for months now..just decided its time to stop killing the flows by having to X out and restart ableton

I dont think it has to do with the devices being 'stolen' because it happens even when i dont have devices being renamed...

Im convinced my computer is messed up

im guessing as i dont use a mac but do you have your keyboard set to be used as a virtual keyboard? is the little keyboard symbol at top right illuminated? could that be an issue?

I'm using a version of Live 9 Intro 9.7.4. on a MacBook from 2009. until today I have had no problems but now my qwerty keyboard stops functioning. this is whether or not the little musical keyboard button is pressed. it prevents me from playing musical ideas via my qwerty keyboard but also my spacebar doesn't stop or start playback, my arrow keys don't function.... if I skip to another program my keyboard works fine. as far as I'm aware, I've made no changes to my computer or Ableton. I hope I find a solution soon,

did anybody ever find a solution for this?
I started to have the same problem in Ableton 10.1.7.

It seems to happen randomly and I can only fix it by restarting Ableton. (Which is of course not really a solution, especially when using Ableton to perform live.)

I also noticed that the problem only occurs in Clip-View. When I double click a midi-clip to access the piano-roll, the keyboard works as expected.

Help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Maybe it is some language or accessibility settings turned on by mistake?

I am having the same issue. Qwerty Keyboard on Mac is not working Ableton 10.1.7.

The Key icon is highlighted in yellow in the top right and I can play on the piano roll with my mouse and on other plugin instruments like Serum.
However no play back through the keyboard.

The input channel also is flashing which indicates midi activity, but no sound created.

This happened today after I removed a control template for Komplete Kontrol with Native Instruments M32. I have re-installed Ableton but no change.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciacted.

I found this article which has worked for me.

I did a reset as mentioned by Ableton by removing the files and re-booted.

Had to link my plugins again but now all working as before

Think my issue may have been partly to do with my template.
