Can anyone recommend a good mic pre amp for around $500

I feel like the mic pre on my clarett 2pre is just not cutting it

I have been digging the stuff from Warm Audio

Check them out, if you have a few more to spend I would recommend the TB12. It just a little more than $500.
I would also tell you to check out 500 series modules. You can find lots of great outboard gear for around $500-700 but you have to make the initial investment of the 500 rack.

I had a "cough" Focusrite ISA 220 and I loved it for vocals. It had a clean (but not sterile.) sound, nice EQ built-in, deesser, and a very nice compressor built-in.
It might be on the tad expensive side but I see one used for about $800 online.
