Last week i bought a macbook pro 2015 i7 16 gb ram, 500 gb ssd used one..
Currently working on a project where i have 20 midi and audio tracks...
Then the ableton shows the cpu usage randomly from 25% upto 55-57% sometimes... i can hear the audio glitches and pop ups and breaks which i guess should not be beacuse i have 16 gigs of ram and while i monitor my ram, it just shows 6.5 gb used out of 16 gb..
Am i doing any wrong?
Please help me i'm trying to figure it out and am really pissed off..
Also the temperature of macbook goes upto 70-80 degree celcius and fan speed is around 1900-2000 RPM..
It makes my mac quiet hot.. this is nirmal right??
Thanks for your time to answer my query..

Your issue is about CPU, not ram.
What is your buffer size? If you are extremely low on buffer (like 32 or 64) glitches are (may be) normal.
Try 128 or 256 buffer (on Ableton>preferences>Audio>Latency>Buffer Size)
Also some of the 3rd party plugins (inst or fx) may be causing the problem.
Try deactivating VSTs one by one to see any of them is messing.
There is an Ableton performance test, you can try it to see if you get similar results with people same specs as yours..

We use maybe 60 tracks and a handful of software synths, though mostly external gear and effect plug-ins on 2015 15" quadcore i7 MBP. Not a glitch. We use Roland MX-1 as audio interface.

I bought the same computer you have (mine had the highest ghz i7 they had available) and at 64 sample buffer it would not run Omni and Komplete without pops and crackles. My 2011 MBP was able to run the set without a glitch. I sold the 2015 and bought a 2014, top of the line. It runs my set perfectly!
I hope you find a solution to your problem without going through the hassle I went through.

I'm guessing Audio buffering issues.
Normally the issue is Audiointerface drivers or buffer size.
Usually 128 or 256 buffers work good.
What type of audio interface are you using?

I forgot to mention that mine is Macbook pro with 13" i7, 16 gigs.. I checked the sample rate and it was running at 512 samples..
Also i like working at my terrace in the evening so i unplug my macbook from the audio interface and work whithout audio interface while mixing and mastering. So may be the issue because i have NO audio interface plugged in?
Also my Mac get hot very fast after i run the project/ play the project at background.. upto 75 -77 degree Celsius.. This is normal right?
I am new to Mac so maybe i'm doing anything wrong? any help for my problems please?

That's an i5 then (I corrected my mistake with ours which is an i7). There are, to the best of my knowledge, no 13" i7 2015 MacBook Pros.
That's not sufficient IMHO. Get a quadcore.

I found that SERUM VST was causing the problem.. i downloaded the free serum version.. i uninstalled it and now the CPU usage is not going more than 30% (before 55-65%)..
Can it be that the vst was causing the problem?? should i download the another version of Serum or this VST uses the high CPU??
Anyone please??

I understand you're trying to troubleshoot your glitches, but please do not talk about cracked or warez software on the forums.

You're right that
it's an i7, but it's a dual core i7, not quadcore.
Just buy what you use, man. You're on your own.

Yeah, this is where everyone will now stop assisting you.
Troubleshooting shit for us is hard enough without throwing in illegal cracked installs that do god knows what on your system. If you want a download that will work, save your pocket money and get the legal version. Who knows what kind of shit is being done in the background. For all you know it's scanning and uploading all your personal info in the background or using your PC as a worm host or something. The fact you are noticing issues when using Live should have your alarm bells ringing by now.
If you MUST use illegally obtained downloads and have issues, you best resolve them yourself because no one likes helping people using ripoffs when they have invested their own hard earned money to legally use them.

You're using multiple instances of high CPU devices on a u-processor. You will have to either use less devices and bounce tracks or increase buffer size.

HI there
I have exactly the same computer as you. Same problems. Wondering if you ever managed to find a solution?
I was having an issue with using NI's Passive EQ and Solid state bus comp on my master channel. Taking these out dropped my CPU when idle from 50% to around 28%. I am still getting massive cpu spikes and the sound is glitching out. Its making work impossible. It seems to be so random too.
I have disabled VST's and frozen Diva channels as I thought those were the culprits. Still spiking though.
I checked the mac Activity Monitor and its saying that Live is using 150% cpu usage while idle and 270% while in playback.
I have around 60 channels in this session so its quite heavy but i am getting similar problems in sessions half this size.
I currently have my buffer set to 2048 (!) as ts the only way to playback with minimal glitching.
Any comments here would be helpful, thank you.
