HI forum, I just bought a Scarlett 18i8 and I'm having trouble with it in Ableton live intro. I've downloaded the latest drivers for the Scarlett interface but the driver keeps disconnecting on me. I push play no sound. Finally after many shut downs of the computer and sometimes reinstalling the driver I can get connection again. Any ideas?
Thank You...
Also note: I'm running on a MacBook 10.13.3 High Sierra
Thank You for all the help

I have the same interface and OS and no issue's.
Are you able to use the interface to play music from your Mac, say from itunes or whatever? Do you only have the problem when using Live?

Are you using a 1st gen or a 2nd gen Scarlett 18i8. I'm using a 2nd gen on a Windows 10 64 bit computer, and I haven't had ANY issues at all. There was an update to the drivers a few months ago.

the First gen 18i8 and 2nd gen both use different software 1st gen uses Scarlett Mixcontrol 2nd gen uses Focusrite control. Maybe your using the incorrect one.

Hi, I had a chat with Focusrite and they said that I shouldn't be using a USB hub. Easily said, I took the USB hub out of the picture and so far so good.
Thanks for the replies. Let's keep the fingers crossed!

I'm glad it seems to be working for you now, although, I'm currently using my 18i8 on a hub. It's been on a hub since the day I got it and it's never had any issues at all. The only other items on the hub are usb thumb drives and dongles, but that's it.

I got lots of drop outs from my MIDI devices on my previous hub, now using a Plugable hub, they are great. Would still recommend plugging an interface directly into your computer.

Yeah it is usually better to go directly to a Computer when using audio interfaces (for just about any brand). Hubs can add an extra layer of transport. Hubs are usually fine for midi though (even that depends on a few things though) but for audio it can often be a big bottleneck.

USB HUB is a definite NO with the 18i8. I have have a 1st gen for a few years now and I did have problems when I tried to use even a powered USB Hub.
I'm direct to the powered USB bus now and no problems.
