I'm really mad!

Why on Earth having a DAW that costs around 800 bucks (I've got a Suite v9) should I bother to use some kind of a programming language to do simple stuff like Pioneer style filter EQ. Why don't you just add ability to set up not just MIN and MAX values for the controller value, but also MIN and MAX for the controlled parameter?
Is it that hard? Do I have to preorder Ableton 11/12/13 to get this feature?

Seriously, it's really dissapointing that every creative path you take inside Ableton makes you stuck with something that should be there, but it's not. Like creating extra tracks for sidechaining third-party plugins, or enabling lights on the Launchpad.

You can totally do this in Live already. Check out the "Twister Filter" preset in this pack:

This is true of all DAWs. Well, actually saying every creative path isn't true. Some or "many of the ones I particularly want to go down" would be more correct. Over the years I have used Reason, Cubase and Logic as well as Live and every single one of them annoys me to some extent.

How come all DAWs don't allow wiring between plugins like Reason does?

How come all DAWs don't allow me to choose any audio input and any audio output for a track like Live does (same for MIDI)?

How come all DAWs don't have built in notation features like Cubase and Live?

How come all DAWs can't be Rewire slaves as well as masters like Live?

How come only Reason and Live have GUIs that don't pop up multiple windows all the time?

How come all DAWs don't support VST, VST3 and AU?

The list goes on and on...

Yeah every DAW has a “glaring” omission.


Some DAWS do tend to be more well rounded than others though but I think part of Ableton’s niche is streamlined workflow and sometimes that means sacrificing flexibility.

That said though it is good Ableton has M4L for doing custom applications.

Many DAWS don’t have that flexibility.

Yup. It's true for all the software in the world. Unless you're the dev.
