Not into the genre myself but Add Violence (2017) from NIN still blows my mind, not sure if that qualifies as industrial though?

not really industrial but certainly rock. tonight i'm going to see Part Chimp and Lower Slaughter at the Garage in London. Massive riffs from both

It still exists. Industrial in general survives as club music though, so it was superseded for the most part by computer based musicians playing keyboard dominated Industrial dance music. Industrial rock groups from back then still tour, Ministry, NIN, Unsane and Killing Joke off the top of my head have come through town recently.

Being primarily a guitar player with a love of Industrial and Electronic music in general myself. I'm slightly disappointed that club music won out in terms of where Industrial survives today, but at least it survives.


To nerd it up a bit, Killing Joke are Post Punk, they fit into Industrial loosely, but they were formed in 1980.

Trivia time: I did some programming on Killing Joke’s Pandemonium album. (1993)

It was like a BC-->AD musical moment for me.


Prolly got something to do with the fact they spiked my with my acid debut!.

I grew up in Chicago, so my friends and I were always going to Waxtrax shopping and seeing industrial artists just hanging out there for the studio. Crazy place to be if you were into industrial music back then.

Very loosely. I'd rather say KJ are, or was anyway, their own genre, though I put them together with other bands at the time. Always stood out to me. Sometimes these days they are sounding more like being within a genre like metal or whatever. I've yet to hear a KJ song that sounded industrial to me though, unless it was a NIN remix or something. Maybe this is just a matter of perspective? That, or the fact I haven't seen them live for ages. I will never forget the first concert. It changed everything already at the sound check (I was in the front) with only Paul playing the drums. A defining moment.

I like their strike-fabrique-album with agitative speech in the beginning.
Late 80s-early 90s when i first heard this type of music, i had the impression that "you must use industrial stuff, like iron plates, heavy machinery etc". I was kinda dissapointed when i listened to their 'electronic' stuff, like fuckhead.

From those days, Einstürzende Neubauten is still one of my favorite bands of all times though. (And i can speak zero german.. except noch ein bier!)
