Routing a track of midi automation clips to another track?

Post by kernelk » Tue Aug 07, 2018 6:17 am

Let's say I have an instrument track A and another midi track B. I created a bunch of clips on B that automate CC and I send "MIDI To" to track A. How do I link the incoming CC on track A to some knob?

Basically I want automation clips to be separate from the instrument midi clips.

Ableton 9.7.6 32bit

Thanks

if you are using midi cc to automate device parameters in Live its's easier to have the parameter change data on the device track and the note/velocity data on another track (basically the opposite of what you've described). If you are using live to control an external midi device it shouldn't matter what track your data is on - just routing the control and note data to the relevant midi channel should sort it.

That works, thanks! Would be more intuitive if it could be done the other way, but better than using something external.
